Robots from Taiwan to Be Used in Teaching at Prague schools

27.1.2021 — Thanks to cooperation between Prague and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, the first technological aids from Taiwan will arrive at Prague schools this week. Robots will help in lessons for lower grades at the grammar school in Čakovice, while spectrum analysers will be utilised at the Secondary Industrial School of Electrical Engineering in Ječná. This is the pilot phase of joint projects that Prague is preparing in cooperation with Taiwan. Cooperation projects in the field of education are being prepared, with their implementation planned for this year. These include digitisation in the field of children's education, IT innovation and climate change awareness.

24.6.2021 — Radní hl. m. Prahy pro oblast školství Vít Šimral společně s ředitelem odboru informatických aplikací Magistrátu hl. m. Prahy Milanem Krchem odměnili nejlepší účastníky krajského kola kvízu Kraje pro bezpečný internet. Do sedmého ročníku krajského kola soutěžního kvízu se v Praze přihlásilo přes 2 000 žáků a téměř 1 800 jich ho úspěšně dokončilo.

21.11.2018 — Prague City Assembly has 65 members that are elected in municipal elections by Prague citizens for a four-year period. The following parties, movement, and coalition are represented for the election period 2018 - 2022: Česká pirátská strana, PRAHA SOBĚ, koalice "TOP 09, STAN a KDU-ČSL", ODS, ANO 2011. Prague City Assembly holds a session once a month (or as needed) and its meetings are open to the public. Meetings of the Assembly are convened in writing and made available to the public. Prague City Hall Assembly decides on significant matters that concern Prague. It puts forward bills in the Chamber of Deputies and approves the Prague City budget, both of which have been previously discussed with individual city districts. Additionally, the Assembly approves the City and territorial districts development programs, issues generally binding regulations, grants honorary citizenships, and awards of the City of Prague. Famous teacher and writer’s life story in comics

19.2.2020 — The National Pedagogical Museum hosts an interesting exhibition that tells the life story of Jan Amos Comenius (Komenský in Czech) in a unique way. The 'KOMenský v KOMiksu' ('Comenius in the Comics') exposition will be open in the museum building on Valdštejnská Street until the 31st of December 2020.

Rare elephant shrew in Prague Zoo

30.3.2020 — The black and rufous elephant shrew, (Rhynchocyon petersi) is a new resident in Prague Zoo's indoor African pavilion. Although it looks like a mouse, it is related to elephants and aardvarks.

Best pole dancing show coming soon!

16.2.2020 — Come to appreciate and support the best pole dance contestants who have made their way through the individual rounds of Battle League 2019 to the elite final of the competition. Pole Battle Championship will take place on the 22nd of February in the sports hall TJ Sokol Královské Vinohrady.

7.1.2019 — Dance is a splendid art of movement that brings joy and gratification to both dancers and spectators. If you are passionate about dancing, you will surely enjoy DanceTime Gala Ball 2019, which will take place on the 12th of January 2019 in Grand Hotel Bohemia in Prague. The ball is the conclusion of the second year of the DanceTime Gala Cup, a special dance competition where one professional and one amateur work together as dancing partners. The event is organized by the society Tanec pro všechny, which aims to promote social dance at all levels and make it accessible to as many people as possible.

The investor, Prague Technical Road Administration (Technická správa komunikací hl. m. Prahy, a.s.), expects the work to take approximately one month. Some traffic restrictions will be in place.

21 projects compete in climate change competition finals

16.8.2020 — The public voting for the Adapterra Awards competition has started. The competition aims to find the best ideas on how to prepare Czech cities, towns and landscapes for the effects of climate change, such as drought, rising temperatures and torrential rain. 21 projects have reached the final stage of the competition, five of which are from Prague. The public have until the end of September to choose the best projects in the Czech Republic tackling current challenges regarding climate change, such as creating green buildings and public spaces, cooling urban streets and returning water to the landscape.

28.10.2020 — Prague Planetarium and the Štefánik Observatory commence another two-year course in astronomy. Those who complete the course successfully will have an opportunity to work in the Astronomy Club of the Štefánik Observatory. The two-year astronomical course has been held for over 50 years and offers the participants basic knowledge of modern astronomy along with knowledge of the night sky and the basics of working with astronomical instruments.

New Russian art exhibition in DOX

23.10.2019 — A new exhibition, 'Russia. Timeless', is running in DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Holešovice in Prague until the 2nd of December. The exhibition introduces strong artistic opinions from contemporary Russia. "The exhibition shows the theme of timelessness over the past sixty years by artists of different generations and aesthetic beliefs. We want them to stand side by side and together, without categorising them as more or less important than each other. Each visitor can decide that for themselves and according to their own opinion," Tomáš Glanc, one of the exhibition's curators, said.

28.6.2020 — 'Manet in Black-and-White' is an exhibition of graphic works by the French painter Édouard Manet held in the National Gallery Prague. The exhibition will be open in the Graphic Cabinet on the 4th floor of the Trade Fair Palace until the 9th of August. The National Gallery Prague has been located in the Trade Fair Palace in Prague's Holešovice district since 1976. Apart from the temporary exhibition of Manet's lesser-known works, you can also visit the permanent exhibition of 20thand 21st century art located there.

19.10.2020 — A barrier-free entrance to Prague Botanical Garden was opened in the southern part of St. Claire's Vineyard at the end of September. The garden had been planning to build a new entrance for several years, and their waiting has finally paid off. From now on, visitors can comfortably enter St. Claire's Vineyard directly from Trojská Street, at the intersection between the vineyard walls and Troja Château, where the Kovárna bus stop is conveniently situated.

International Dance Day to take place online
